About This Series

   Gestures is a reflection on my return to Christ and the deep dive I took into the early church, ancient manuscripts, and the roots of Christian tradition. During this time, I became drawn to Orthodox Christianity and the rich visual and spiritual language that comes with it—icons, abbreviations like IC XC, and a deep reverence for history and mystery.

   Alongside these sacred references, I incorporate materials and techniques from graffiti culture. I use graffiti mops to create drips in the art, similar to tags found in the back allies of an urban city. This represents both a part of my old life before Christ and a deeper idea: just as graffiti is often illegal, covered up, or wiped away, so too was Christianity once persecuted, hidden, and erased.

   This series sits at the crossroads of reverence and rebellion—honoring the early church while acknowledging the raw, messy nature of repentance.
